WHAT HAPPENED?
Sydney were 3-0 up inside the opening half hour against Central Coast Mariners on Saturday when striker Wood spurned a glorious opportunity from point blank range. The 21-year-old looked set to pounce on goalkeeper Danny Vukovic's poor touch but he somehow missed the tap-in when it seemed easier to score.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Sydney went onto win the match 3-1, lifting them up to sixth in the A-League. While Wood's howler did not prove costly for his side, it is hard to remember a worse miss in recent history. The youngster, who has scored 14 goals in 70 games for Sydney, was subbed off in the 61st minute of the contest.
